Mad for monochrome

monochrome

Despite my love for bright colours in the home, there is something rather sleek and contemporary about sticking with a pared-down pallet. The monochrome look can be extremely striking and is an easy way to add texture, experiment with pattern and mix old accessories with new.

We all know white walls help to make a room feel bigger, more serene and creates the blank canvas in which to work with. Pair those white walls with some dramatic black & white prints, some carefully selected black furniture and a rug combining the two colours and you can easily give monochrome rooms their stylistic appeal. Don’t forget to experiment with different tonal ranges and include soft greys and charcoals to contrast against white.

Things with patterns and movement that look interesting to touch, help make a room look cozy and when you are foregoing colour it is really important to add texture by using a range of contrasting materials. Consider adding accents of copper, timber, marble and a selection of house plants to really help bring the space to life.
